If You Care

If you care, someone died today.
If you care, someone is in pain.
If you care, everything you stand for
Is being torn apart
Somewhere else.

If you even stand for anything.

If you care, a baby was just born.
And if you care, there’s a sick baby
close by.

If you care, there’s a frightened child
Crying for their mother.

Somewhere the hospital is full
And somewhere else the hospital is nonexistant.
Somewhere people live in paradise
And somewhere people don’t eve know what paradise is.

I mean, if you care.

Thank you for writing this poem. I think that the great disparity between rich and poor, privileged and oppressed, is something that we don’t talk about enough. I hope that people will read this poem and care.

Wow. This really makes me realize how privileged we are. Everyone should care about these things.

This poem really starts to make you think about the people who are going through these sort of things. It’s really good.

This is really cool, and brutally honest.

This made me think about how lucky our country is and that we have hospitals and other places to help our citizens. But I was a little confused about the “everything you stand for is being torn apart somewhere else.” It’s an interesting choice of words, but what does it mean?

this makes you think about those people who are going through bad things, and stuff like that. Why did you write this. (not like, “why did you write this, its terrible”, but like, why did you just decide to write this???) It’s really good. Just like those other people said.

Wow! I really liked this poem. I do care, and it makes you remember and think of the people who have problems and the difference between the rich and the poor. Why did you write this? good job!

I relly like this post. It shows that life can be perfect in some ways but can also be horrific in others. Like a utopia

wow, It really make me think about how selfish and stupid and self absorbed I always am, so thanks for making me care. It was really good.
